forked from lukas/nixos-config
commit_and_push previously ran `git add -A`, which would sweep up any unrelated uncommitted work already sitting in the working tree (not just what the Builder itself wrote this turn) into its commit. stash_foreign_changes now stashes (push --include-untracked) whatever was already dirty before Codex runs, so the tree Codex/git add -A sees only ever contains this job's own changes; restore_foreign_changes pops it back afterward regardless of success/failure (wrapped in try/finally in process_job). Covered by a real tempdir git-repo integration test, not just mocks.

"""Builder.
Processes both specifications handed off by the Agent
(agents/agent.md's ===BUILDER-HANDOFF=== block, extracted by
worker.py) and direct XMPP messages to builder@ (queued by the same
listener.py, pointed at a separate connection/queue). Both land in the
same builder-inbox queue and share one Codex session per sender, so a
handoff can be followed up on directly.
The Builder can converse, plan, and implement changes: Codex runs with
--sandbox workspace-write and --add-dir on the full nixos-config
checkout (AGENT_BUILDER_WRITABLE_DIR). Codex's own sandbox refuses
writes under .git/ even with workspace-write, so it cannot commit or
push itself -- it edits files and, when done, marks the response with
a ===COMMIT-MESSAGE=== block. This script then runs `nix flake check`
as a hard gate outside Codex's sandbox and only commits/pushes to dev
if that passes; a failing check leaves the changes uncommitted for a
human to inspect. It does not deploy anything -- nixos-rebuild/
deploy-pinix.sh are not on its PATH and it is instructed not to run
them.
